Notes from the third gathering (and first farewell to autumn).
The third seasonal gathering of Communion: Queer & Trans Memorial & Mourning took place on December 18, 2023.
Tala Khanmalek (any) used pomegranate seeds to grieve her father and explore historical trauma. Tala is a Los Angeles-based writer/scholar/educator with an interest in sailing.
ai onubogu (they/them) described their gender as a sleeve coming off in the wake of their dog’s death. ai is Jersey born and raised, listening always for the worlds flying overhead.
Teddy Max Pozo (they/them) eulogized chest tissue as an old friend. Teddy Max is a Los Angeles-based cartoonist, game designer, educator, and scorpio, with an interest in archaic technologies, dogs, and tattoos.
Anthony Yooshin Kim (he/him) narrated the legendary status of his grandmother’s folding screen. Anthony is a Korean American writer, film curator, and Aries, with an undying passion for karaoke.
